I was always a very skinny guy.  I don’t ever remember being toned or lean or even ‘average'; in fact, what is ‘average’ – I still haven’t figured that one out.  I have just been skinny, always skinny, and it hasn’t done anything to help my reputation or love life.  So, when I hit the ripe old age of 25 I realized I had to do something about this and learn how to gain weight, or face the single life forever.

While some guys don’t mind being a bachelor, I really do.  Its fine to be a bachelor if you have girls hanging around you, but if you don’t it’s not all that great.  So, I thought I should do some research into bulking up and hitting that elusive ‘average’ at least.  I mean, ‘average’ must get some attention.

So, I did my research and discovered that my original belief in bulking up consisting of intense weight training sessions was not altogether true.  There is more to this than picking up weights and drinking protein shakes.  In fact, if you were to do that you’d actually be harming your body and picking up weight rather than toning your body.  Apparently protein shakes need to be taken in conjunction with a well thought out training program.

I got on my thinking cap, did some intensive online research and drew up, what I thought, was a decent work out regime.  It consisted of simple training sessions including press-ups, push-ups and dips.  I was never keen on weight training, so there was only a small amount of this involved in my regime.  Plus, I was very glad to learn that I didn’t have to run marathons to bulk up.  In fact, sprinting is most beneficial when building muscle.

Combining this program with a special calorie counting diet and set meal times was my route to success.  Now all I need is willpower and endurance to keep the training going.
